I Come First …

This may sound crazy to many people, but I come first. Even as I write this I wonder will people judge me, but it really is true. If  I am not authentically my self first then I suck at everything else in life & I don’t want to suck in life.

Glasses: Zenni Optical, Dress: Groceries, from Opitz for $12, Shoes: Birkenstocks, from DSW $110

I realized this a couple weeks ago when I was hanging out with my cousin. She asked me how do you have time to buy cute clothes, get your nails done, & take fun pictures. The answer was quite simple … I make time.

Glasses: Zenni Optical, Tank Top: Free People, from Opitz for $12.50, Jeans: J Crew, from GoodWill for $8, Shoes: Vans, from DSW for $45, Backpack: Vintage Coach, from thrift store for $12

I am lucky enough to only work 30 hours a week. I also send my son to preschool & enrolled him in the extended care program that goes from 7am to 6pm. Now my son is not at at preschool ALL day long, but I certainly do not go right after work & pick him up at 3:45. I do a little ME time. Maybe that is going to Happy Hour with a co-worker, getting my nails done, thrifting, hitting the gym, or like tonight going grocery shopping at Aldi by myself.

Glasses: Zenni Optical, Tank Top: Victoria Secret for $12, Jeans: Frame, from Opitz $60

I need ME time. I care what I look like & the truth is when I am looking good I am a way better mother, wife, & friend. So I will keep doing me. I will keep hitting up Opitzs clearance rack looking for the best deals. Let me brag quick about last weeks find, it was a pair of white, J Brand, skinny jeans for $8.60. That was not a typo, $180 jeans for $8.60. I live for deals like that. The best part though is I feel confident, sexy, & strong in them.

Glasses: Zenni Optical, Tee Shirt: Groceries, Opitz for $5, Tank Top: LOFT, from thrift store for $6, Jeans: J Brand, from Opitz for $8.60

People may think that your a mother, a wife, that other things come first & obviously sometimes this is true. I do know though when I am looking good I want to go out & be doing stuff with my family. I want my son to be proud of me, see my confidence, & have confidence too. As for my husband, the saying is true “happy wife, happy life” & I am really happy.

You are perfectly right .first you are a woman….then you are everything else.Me time is essential, taking care of yourself is essential to be able to take care of other too .last but not least your kids will grow ,leave home(hopefully)and build their life, you and your partner will stay.Invest in your couple bond because it is with him will end up growing old not with your kid.Too many couple once they become parents they stop to be a couple. There will be up and down as life with little ones is highly disruptive but never neglect the couple.I always say, first I am a woman, then a wife and a mother.
