Cousin Love

Rowan doesn’t have any “real” cousins … yet. My sisters are not at that place in their lives and either are Tyler’s brothers.

When I first got pregnant I thought about this alot. I would get really sad & occasionally cry to Tyler about it. (I now blame that on wonderful pregnancy hormones.) Tyler would reassure me that it would be okay & that Rowan would have “other” cousins. I knew he was right. My best friend was in the same situation. Our kids were going to be each others cousins … Max is Rowans cousin. But unfortunately they aren’t at every family event.

The same goes for my twin sister. She is lucky enough to be a huge part in a little girls life, Maleigha. She is also like a cousin to Rowan. She comes on family vacations and weekend getaways. They truly love each other. But like Max, Maleigha isn’t at every family event.

Then there is Benni. She is Tyler’s cousins daughter. Thankfully this little cutie gets to be at a handful of family events. These two are either like oil & water or two-peas-in-a-pod. Thankfully they were two-peas-in-a-pod today.

Tyler was right. Rowan is beyond blessed to have all these “other” cousins in his life & I couldn’t imagine it any other way.

I didn’t find out until I had graduated from high school that several guys and gals whom I thought were cousins since they were younger than me actually were aunts and uncles. Granddad divorced his wife of 27 years and married an 18-year-old student from one of his classes. Their marriage produced aunts and uncles younger than me.
